Get Notified When New Episodes Come Out

TvShowCalendar supports notifications via ntfy and Discord.

NTFY

Install the ntfy App

Ntfy is a free and open-source app that allows you to receive push notifications directly to your phone. Before setting up notifications, install the ntfy app on your device:

Enable Ntfy Notifications

  1. Go to your profile on TvShowCalendar.
  2. Select "Enable NTFY notifications".
  3. A form will appear asking for a password. This password is required to set up notifications. Remember this password, as you will need it to configure the app on your phone.
  4. After entering the password, a topic ID will appear. You will need this topic ID, your email, and the password you just set to complete the setup.

Subscribe to Notifications in the ntfy App

  1. Open the ntfy app on your phone.
  2. Tap the + button at the bottom to subscribe to a new topic.
  3. In the topic name field, enter the topic ID provided by TvShowCalendar.
  4. Check the "Use another server" option.
  5. Enter the server address for TvShowCalendar: https://ntfy.tvshowcalendar.com.

Test Your Setup

To ensure everything is working, go to your profile on TvShowCalendar. Press "Send test notification". You should receive a push notification on your phone. If you do, your setup is complete!

Ntfy is a fantastic free and open-source project. If you enjoy using the app, consider supporting them.

Discord

Setup Discord webhook

Discord notifications about episodes will be sent to you via a Discord webhook. Discord webhooks function as a unique URL where services like TvShowCalendar can "post" information the moment an event occurs, like when an episode airs.

  • Go to your Discord server and find the channel where you want messages to appear. Typically, you would create a new channel specifically for receiving TvShowCalendar notifications.
  • Click the little gear icon next to the channel name to open the settings. Look for a tab labeled Integrations and click the Webhooks option.
  • From there, just hit the New Webhook button. You can give your webhook a name and a profile picture if you like, then click Copy Webhook URL. This link is the "address" you will paste into TvShowCalendar so it knows exactly where to send notifications.

Profile setup

Go to your TvShowCalendar profile and select Enable Discord notifications. Paste your Discord webhook URL into the provided field and click Enable. If the setup is successful, your webhook URL will appear on the screen. You can then verify the connection by clicking the Send test message button.

Customize Notifications

You can choose when to receive notifications:

  • At the episode airtime (default)
  • One hour before the episode airs
  • One hour after the episode airs

Notifications are enabled by default for all shows in your list. To manage them individually, visit the show page and click the bell icon to toggle notifications on or off.
